Alan is a Partner and Finance & Operations Director. He is a member of the Management Committee and sits on the Valuation and Risk Committees.

Prior to joining Beechbrook in 2014, Alan worked as Financial Controller of the limited partnership funds at the private equity firm, Graphite Capital. He is a Chartered Accountant with ICAEW, having qualified with PwC.

Alan enjoys sports, most notably football through his love of Liverpool. He also enjoys spending time supporting the culinary institutions in the UK by trying new restaurants and bars.

Alastair joined BGF in February 2021 and leads our Technology team and work closely with all business areas. With a passion for utilising technology systems that drive positive business outcomes and end user satisfaction, Alastair is responsible for developing our technology roadmap and leading the implementation of solutions that underpin the technology strategy and drive operational performance.

Alastair has 20 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector and prior to joining BGF has held several senior management roles within information technology. Most recently as the IT Director for Succession Wealth where he led the development of technology solutions and infrastructure.

Alastair has a BA in Financial Studies and Law and he is married with 2 children and lives in the Cotswolds. Alastair enjoys most sports including golf and football and is really in his element when skiing with the family.

Chris is a Finance & Portfolio Operations Director at 3i. Prior to 3i Chris worked in M&A and FP&A at Cory Group and Transaction Services at PwC.

David Allan is a Partner at TriSpan, a transatlantic Private Equity firm dedicated to supporting companies in the lower middle market. With over two decades of experience, David oversees finance and operations at TriSpan. He also plays a key role in the firm's management committee and is a member of all GP boards. Prior to joining TriSpan, he held various positions within Goldman Sachs and was most recently part of the EMEA Management Team in Private Wealth Management.

Giovanni is a co-founder and Partner at Medicxi. He leads the finance, capital raising and investor relations operations at Medicxi. Prior to Medicxi, Giovanni held senior positions at Index Ventures and Intermediate Capital Group. He began his career at PwC in Auckland, New Zealand, joining their audit and transaction services divisions and qualified as a Chartered Accountant during this time.

Giovanni holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Property from the University of Auckland.

James is CFO at Apposite Capital, the lower mid-market healthcare private equity investor, where amongst other things he is responsible for finance, investor relations, compliance and tax. James has a masters degree in chemistry from Cambridge University and qualified as an accountant with KPMG, before working in the finance team at Coller Capital.

My role covers all aspects of finance, tax, regulatory compliance including best practise on impact reporting,together with oversight of business operations, resulting in touchpoints across the whole business.

Throughout my career I have always relished new challenges and enjoyed roles with a broad and evolving remit, so joining Circularity during the first closing of our first fund was an ideal opportunity for me to contribute to the development of a business with an exciting future. I thoroughly enjoy working with the whole team, using my professional skills to support the development of the firm delivering on our promises to our investors as well as contributing to a change in the wider economy.

I started my career qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. On qualifying I moved into financial services, gaining extensive experience across finance, strategy and business development. During this time I completed an MBA and subsequently spent time working in smaller businesses driving growth, before moving back into financial services and more specifically the world of private equity.

Karen is the COO of Federated Hermes Global Private Equity business. She has overall responsibility for ensuring a best-in-class organisational infrastructure for clients, investment teams and business development activities. Her role also involves growth strategy design and implementation including the planning and prioritisation of strategic initiatives. Karen sits on the Federated Hermes Private Markets Management Committee and is a member of the Federated Hermes GPE Senior Management Team.

Karen previously worked in finance at Matrix Property Management and began her career at Equity Asset Management. Karen is Vice-Chair on both Invest Europe’s Working Group on Accounting Standards, Valuation and Reporting, and Invest Europe’s Professional Standards Committee.

She is Vice Chair of the British Venture Capital Association Accounting, Governance & Reporting Committee, and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Karen holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Criminology and a Master of Arts in Psychoanalysis. At the Real Deals 2021 ‘The Drawdown Awards’, Karen received the accolade of ‘COO of the Year’.

Kirsty started her career qualifying as a chartered accountant with EY in the Channel Islands before moving to PwC in New York, and ultimately settling in London. She has over two decades of experience within the private equity industry, holding finance roles at Morgan Grenfell, Actis, and Kings Park Capital.

Neil has over 20 years’ professional experience in venture capital, private equity and financial services. He joined in 2019 from Kennet Partners Ltd, an international growth equity company, at which he was Finance Director.

At Abingworth he manages the finances and administration of the business and supports fundraising and investment activities. He has previously held senior finance roles at Robert W Baird, Baird Capital Partners Europe and at Advent Venture Partners.

Neil is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Warwick.

Paul is the Operating Partner of CCP. Paul has over 30 years of experience in financial markets, having spent the last 15 years as a CFO and COO in the alternative investment sector.

Prior to joining CCP, Paul ran his own consultancy business for 4 years, providing financial, operational, risk and regulatory support to private equity and hedge fund managers looking to grow their asset base, launch new funds or enhance their infrastructure. Prior to this Paul was interim COO at Pillarstone Europe and COO of Eclectica Asset Management where he helped to double assets under management in two years to $1.3bn, through new fund launches and the setting of higher operational due diligence standards.

From 2010 to 2012 Paul was COO (Asset Management) for Matrix Group, overseeing the operations and development of a £4bn diverse asset base. In this role he served as board director of several regulated entities. He started his career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen where he qualified as a chartered accountant before becoming European Treasurer for a mid-sized US fixed income house and subsequently, Head of European Cash Management for Merrill Lynch International.

Paul has an MA from the University of Oxford and is a qualified corporate treasurer.

Stuart is a managing director and head of European operations in Providence Equity’s London office. Prior to joining Providence in 2023, he was a partner at Alvarez and Marsal focused on the private equity market. Stuart is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a degree in economics and finance from the University of Southampton.

Vanessa is Partner and General Counsel at Beringea, advising management and senior stakeholders on all legal and regulatory matters and overseeing its legal and compliance, finance and operations functions.

Vanessa qualified as a lawyer at Reed Smith LLP and has over 15 years’ experience both in private practice and in-house roles. Most recently, she was Head of Legal at Breed Reply, a specialist tech fund.

Vanessa has a LLB in Law and American Legal Systems having studied at the University of East Anglia (UK) and the University of British Columbia (Canada).
